NERO, 4 years old (FIV+)
MEET NERO – From survivor to snuggle-bug; Nero’s story just needs its happy ending. He’s been waiting for his forever home and hoping he can find one in the Netherlands or Belgium.
Nero was rescued when his rescuer went to feed stray cats in her area. Nero came right up to her and rolled over at her feet. He was severely congested and his face looked awful, he had bad skin patches and several areas where he looked like he was scarred from cat fights. But what grabbed her attention is his affection… he had no interest in the food, he literally just wanted to be pet and loved on. His rescuer knows that Nero just wanted help, and she doesn’t have the heart to ignore him.
She took him to the veterinarian for a comprehensive health examination, during which it was discovered that he is FIV positive, which simply means he has a weakened immune system compared to other cats. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a cat-specific virus that cannot be transmitted to humans. It can only be transmitted to other cats through deep wound. With proper care, a nutritious diet, and regular vet check-ups, FIV-positive cats like Nero can live long, happy, and healthy lives. Hence Nero will need an ongoing care. He sometimes has nasal mucus and mild skin patches (which are already improving in foster care). With a little extra support — supplements like omega-3 fish oil, L-lysine, and immune boosters — Nero is thriving.
Nero has been in a loving foster home for the past 9 months where his true personality has blossomed. Despite being an easy, quiet, calm and affectionate cat, Nero has been struggling to find his forever home. But we don’t give up for Nero. He deserves a loving home just like any other cats.
He may look like a tough survivor, but he’s actually a gentle, velcro cat who adores belly rubs, head bumps, and being close to his humans. He even drools in contentment when he’s being stroked. He loves to be cuddled or curled up in your lap when he wants to sleep.
He is very confident and not shy to new people, and even gets along beautifully with other cats, making him a wonderful companion in many home environments.
Nero is 4 years old. He is fully an indoor cat only or an access into a fully catproof balcony and secured garden.
Nero is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, dewormed, and has tested negative for mycoplasma and FeLV.
His adoption fee is Euro 275 which will helps to cover some parts of his relocation costs to the Netherlands.
