Nono has never known peace — not really. Orphaned as a newborn on the streets of Bahrain, she was hand-raised by a kind rescuer and grew up in a chaotic household of over 15 cats. She never got the chance to feel safe, to be understood, to have space to just be.

Over the years, Nono’s stress built into fear-based aggression. She lashes out when overstimulated, hates other animals, and gets anxious around new people or sudden movement. When a new baby entered the home, Nono’s world unraveled even more. She was confined to a room with other cats for over a year — her worst nightmare. And she’s been fading there ever since.

But here’s what makes Nono worth fighting for:

She still wants to love and be loved!

She’ll climb into your lap and fall asleep on your chest, purring softly — as long as you don’t push her boundaries or do any sudden movements or noises. She seeks connection, she just doesn’t know how to trust it yet, because she has been bullied by her previous owner, who always clapped at her suddenly which caused her to jump from fear, only for him to laugh hysterically at her. He did this to her repeatedly, for three entire years… Nono is traumatized as a result.

She’s not an “easy” cat. She bites viciously when overwhelmed. She panics when she feels cornered. She needs to be tricked into getting into a carrier, and no vet can check her without sedating her fully first. She’s extremely difficult to handle in that sense. But she also gives slow blinks. She follows you quietly from room to room. She welcomes you with a croaky meow to let you know she’s so happy to see you. She runs and hops around the room in excitement when you come in. She has the cutest zoomies and loves to play with a wool yarn. She leans in when you get the approach just right. And she purrs in contentment when she’s laying top of your chest, because that’s where she’s feels the safest.

Nono is searching for her Unicorn human — someone experienced, patient, emotionally intelligent, and deeply committed. No other pets. No kids. No loud households. Just one person, who sees her, and chooses her — over and over again, for the rest of her life.
